FramedStuff is a practice-based project that explores how perception shapes the way we encounter art in everyday life. It uses the concept of the frame as a tool for observation, encouraging people to notice overlooked moments within the urban environment.
By moving the frame outside of the museum context, it becomes a mobile device for looking, discovering, and re-reading the city.
Windows, doorways and accidental compositions in public space are approached as unofficial frames.
The project began with a framed image of a döner box in a late-night shop, an absurd gesture that revealed how framing can assign value and meaning to ordinary things.
FramedStuff includes a curated walking route through Rotterdam, where participants encounter selected framed situations and are also invited to search for their own. Everything that is framed becomes part of the work.
Collected findings form an open archive of urban observations, blurring the distinction between art and non-art and revealing the aesthetic value already present in everyday surroundings.
